HGV rental program update…This applies for rentals through HGV, NOT owner-to-owner rentals.
If you are looking to rent a went a week at Tortuga, first call the office and ask them to check availability for the week that you are interested in. If there is availability, the office will book your reservation. If there is no availability at Tortuga, the office will send you to HGV central reservations where they can look for other options at other HGV properties.
When calling the office, it’s best to avoid calling on Friday/Saturday/Sunday when the office is very busy with checkouts, check-ins or is short-staffed. We ask for your patience and understanding as this new system is implemented. We’re sure that in time, the staff will become more familiar with the system and response time will speed up.
Reminder for owner-to-owner rentals…Be VERY careful, online fraud is ever-increasing. If you start to discuss with someone claiming to be the owner, contact the office with the name and unit number/week so they can contact the actual owner to verify that it really is them.

You’ll see that we have added a new page to our website. The tab is “Info Links” and includes links to key information for owners, such as the pre-arrival check-in, the HGV Rental Agreement and much more. Take a look. We hope it is helpful.

Owners who are looking to rent a TBC unit that has been posted on any website like Facebook are strongly encouraged to verify that the listing is not fraudulent. To do so, you should contact the office IN WRITING at
Tortugafrontoffice@hgv.com NOT BY PHONE.
Give the office the unit number/week(s) and the full name of the owner that has posted the unit up for rent. The office will then contact the actual unit owner to verify that they have in fact placed their unit(s) up for rent.
Once the office verifies that the specified unit week is valid, they will pass along that information by return email. This email from the office is NOT a rental confirmation. It only confirms that the unit is up for rent by the rightful owner and you then deal with the owner to work out the rental details.

As you learned last year, there has been a change in the voting to waive the statutory reserves funding. In the past a simple majority of the vote was needed. However, as of last year, the “bar” was raised, requiring a majority of the full ownership. We were successful in getting enough votes to waive the statutory reserves funding, but it required a huge effort by the HGV staff contacting owners that had not yet voted.
The ballot was included with the recent Annual Meeting announcement that you have or soon will receive. The Board strongly recommends owners vote "YES" to waive the statutory reserves funding. If not, your 2026 annual fee will increase by an additional $165.75/unit week and you will receive an invoice shortly after the annual meeting in April.
This will be an ongoing issue each year, so please get into the habit of voting. It’s too important to overlook Your vote does make a difference.

Contrary to some erroneous information posted on the internet, both RCI and II, the two timeshare exchange companies, are processing exchanges for Tortuga.
As for rentals of TBC units through HGV, those inquiries are currently being routed to the HGV reservations center. Once the TBC office staff is trained on the reservations system, they will be able to handle rental requests.
If you are attempting to put your unit up for rent through HGV, the rental agreement request may be rejected by HGV when there is an excess of units for rent on that week. The rejection by HGV is aimed at giving the owner the opportunity to utilize their week in another way when rental via HGV is unlikely.
You should also note that per the Chamber, rentals have not returned to pre-Ian levels. This may be due to people making vacation plans a year in advance, and a year ago, the Island looked much different than now.

Here’s a warning about yet another scam that has surfaced….
You answer the phone and told that the person calling is a lawyer needing to talk to you about TBC rentals, insinuating possible legal action against owners who rent their units (either directly or through a third-party site) at rates under annual fees.
If you receive a call like this, whether or not you are renting your TBC unit(s), you are encouraged to not engage in any discussion, just respond “I have nothing to discuss with you” and hang up the phone.
Owners are free to rent their units at whatever rate they feel appropriate, regardless of what annual fees are.
